MSCA Postdoctoral fellowship

ORNISCOPE project at the Department of Informatics
Today, I was informed that I was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship. I mean - what the heck?! It's real, and I can start working on joining two different fields: Ecology from the perspective of trophic interactions, and cutting-edge technology. Those fields might feel distant, but I believe that it is a future of scalable, efficient and precise passive, non-invasive ecological monitoring.
Within the ORNISCOPE project, I will explore how low-power devices, sensor networks, and intelligent algorithms can transform the way ecological data is collected and analysed. Edge computing reduces the need for constant connectivity, making it ideal for remote forest environments and long-term monitoring. The outcomes of this work will contribute to more sustainable forest management, early detection of disturbances, and a better understanding of ecosystem dynamics. At the University of South Bohemia, I will work closely with computer scientists, physicists, and ecologists to design solutions that are scientifically robust, scalable, and ready for real-world deployment.
